Lately

On the 11th, I played harp for the Cleofans.  They are the oldest society of women in Utah (the club was founded in the 1890's I believe).  They invite special guests to their meetings to teach them about something new and my great aunt (who is a member) asked if I would come play the harp for them.  It was such a lovely afternoon!  I love sharing music with people and teaching them about the harp and how it works.  The ladies were a wonderful audience and it felt good to perform again.

The day got even better because I ended up staying with my great aunt and uncle and their son for the rest of the afternoon and most of the evening.  They were so kind to me and I loved talking with them and getting to know them better.  Plus, I heard some wonderful stories about my grandma and grandpa growing up and dating from the perspective of my great aunt (who is grandpa's littlest sister) and it was fun to know more about them and their stories!  On my way out the door my cousin gave me some of the flowers he had arranged for the social that afternoon and they are GORGEOUS!  I have loved having fresh flowers in our apartment.  I used to buy fresh flowers quite often when I was in London (my little splurge) and I forgot just how much joy they bring me.  A splash of color and fresh beautiful smells can add so much to a room!

For my birthday, Mike took me to see Beatles LOVE (the Cirque du Soleil show) in Vegas and it was AWESOME!  As a girl who can't even cartwheel I greatly appreciate anyone who can do all of those crazy acrobatics with their body.  It was so visually stunning and of course the music was great! (the day we went also happened to be the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first single being released so we definitely celebrated that anniversary in style!)

us attempting to get a picture with the Union Jack on the ceiling.  I know its blurry but Mike's face makes me laugh

we like to laugh if you couldn't tell

While in Vegas, Mike treated me to gelato at the Bellagio.  How I love that man, and oh how I love gelato.  It was divine to say the least.

The Vegas trip was technically a week before my birthday so the actual day was spent with my parents, shopping with mom, curry with Mike (he definitely knows that the way to my heart is often through my stomach haha) and catching up/laughing with dear friends.  What a wonderful day!

Saturday we woke up to cheering which was odd.  Then we heard a marching band and realized it was the BYU homecoming parade.  Waking up to loud cheering crowds is actually kind of an awesome experience.  It was like "Yay for today!  Wake up and go have fun!" haha.  It certainly worked well as an alarm though as the parade was on our street and the cheers sounded like they were right next to us.

The lego float was, of course, our favorite :)

I think thats all for catching up!  I'm loving October, but it sure is going by fast!  Even though we haven't had a chance to drive up the canyon this fall to see the leaves, I sure have enjoyed seeing the ones in our neighborhood.  We sure do live in a beautiful place!
